Occupational Therapist

My Approach
I have worked on a range of disabilities from physical to neurodevelopmental to psychosocial over the years across different age groups. I have found the greatest rapport and progress comes from taking the time to listen to my participants' goals, needs and challenges experienced at different stages of therapy. This helps to create a therapeutic environment for them to feel safe to take the next step forward. Through my work as an Occupational Therapist, I empower participants to make sustainable changes to their lives. I also value working alongside those in their circle of influence, for instance their family, support staff, other allied health professionals on the care team etc. I believe in a holistic approach to care - ensuring that the physical, emotional and social wellbeing are supported by the team.

About me
I have been a community based Occupational Therapist for more than a decade working in the disability field. What drew me to this profession is the ability to help participants overcome the impact of their diagnoses on their everyday lives. It brings me great joy to see them be one step closer in achieving the goals they have set for themselves!

My expertise includes assistive technology, emotional regulation, sensory regulation, functional capacity assessments and carer training. I enjoy working with a wide range of participants with a variety of conditions.
My current areas of interest include the impact of psychosocial disabilities arising from mental health conditions, especially within the age range of 13-45 years old.

Outside of work I'm also heavily involved with my local church, exploring ways to give back to the community and working on my personal growth. I also enjoy baking, looking after my indoor plants and am passionate about my pilates :D
